The Gift and the Curse of the Orange and Blue Fans

The knowledge of Knick fans and the ecstasy and frustration that comes with it

For every genius, there is a bit of social awkwardness that they must overcome. I remember seeing this manifest with an old classmate of mine. He was incredibly bright and articulate, always getting top grades in school. But his social skills were always a bit lacking, something that he has had to overcome over the years. The point is that you always have to take the good with the bad.

This thought has come across my mind a few times recently when going through Twitter after Knicks games and seeing the fan reactions to wins and losses. Twitter is always a sort of emotional vortex with extreme highs and lows with little nuance in between. Everything is either the greatest thing ever or the worst travesty in history. This seems to be especially true of Knicks fans on Twitter, that gets incredibly high after wins and incredibly low after losses. And perhaps this is the gift and curse of us Knick fans, a fan base that prides itself on being passionate and knowledgeable to a fault.
