Meet The Company That Is Changing The User Manual Forever
It is no secret that I love my gadgets and tech in general. I have always loved the unboxing experience of a new phone, smartwatch, or laptop. There is an excitement of cutting the tape, lifting the box, and unearthing a new device from its plastic wrapping that will be your companion for the months and perhaps years to come. A certain euphoria comes with this experience, and companies have taken steps to make sure that the unboxing experience feels more luxurious for the user. While the unboxing experience has changed for the better, what has not changed is the way that companies handle user manuals in their products.
User manuals have always been compact booklets with a lot of text, confusing diagrams, and terminology that makes little to no sense to the end-user. Because of this unnecessary complexity, most people forego their included user manuals and instead look up how-to videos on YouTube. This feels incredibly wasteful (both in terms of time and the environment), and surely there must be another way. But there seems to be a solution to this problem and it is being provided by Objects, a new startup that is looking to change the way that consumers and company’s look at the user manual.
