Signing Evan Fournier and bringing back veterans from last year is another step towards the long-term plan for the Knicks

If there is one lesson that I have learned in life it is that you will never be able to please everybody. At some point, there will be someone that is disappointed in the decision that you make. In my life as a Knicks fan, I have relearned this lesson time and again. Knick fans all have different ideas for what the team should be, who should be playing, and how they should be playing.

Even in this last season that brought so much happiness and joy to fans of a downtrodden franchise, there were still debates. Debates about if the veterans that were signed were getting too many minutes or just enough minutes for instance. Then there was the discourse over who the Knicks should draft and when they ended up with Quentin Grimes and Miles McBride there was more debate. Now the free agency period is upon us, and once again the debate rages on about the decisions made by this front office. The centerpiece of this free agency period for the Knicks is the signing of Evan Fournier to a 4 year $78M contract. And I am here to tell you why this is a good move and a further indication that the Knicks are headed in the right direction, even if most people do not see it yet.
